Topic: Homo naledi – a stem or a branch on our family tree?

Summary: Homo naledi is the latest addition to the human family tree. He will look at the evolutionary position of this newly discovered hominin species, discuss the probable age and look critically at the theory that the fossil accumulation was the result of burial practices.  Alternative theories about the death and deposition of the fossils will be presented.
